Choosing the Right Lawn Figurines for Your Garden

11 November 2009 316 views No Comment

When you hear the phrase ‘lawn figurines’, do you immediately imagine those tacky looking flamingos? If that is a yes, you sure need help with understanding the various things that can be considered as ‘lawn figurines’. Yard/lawn figurines don’t always mean statues of animals. They include things like rocks, fountains, glazed balls that sit on a fountain like podium and so on.

Be moderate

Remember that too much of a good thing can be bad for you, even when it comes to such figurines. If you have way too many of these in your garden, it won’t appeal to your senses. It would then look like an outdoor museum that is not being maintained properly. Moderation is the key to success in all aspects of life, lawn figurines included.

Placing lawn figurines

The best way to go about this is to place reasonably sized statues at random places within the garden. You could place a small animal/bird figurine close to a plant or a bush. This is actually a cute idea, as it will look like the animal/bird is peaking out. Cute animals/birds and even small fairies/angels are a great choice. Don’t ever have statues that are comparable to the height of an average person. It is best to have figurines that are reasonably proportioned. When it comes to animals/birds figurines, go for ones that have a size similar to that in real life. If you do buy a slightly larger piece, have plants and other things around it. This way, people won’t be looking at how massive the figurine is. Also, don’t ever have more than one large piece in the same area.

The practical side of using lawn figurines

Another thing you need to consider is the practicality of a lawn figurine. If you need a boot/shoe scraper, why not have a hedgehog boot scraper near the door? This way when someone walks in from the yard, dirt won’t get into your house. Plus, the yard figurine won’t look out of place in your garden. You can also find garden figurines that can double as planters. This makes the garden look quirky and pleasant.

A simple rock can add personality to your garden. Make use of a pretty colored, sufficiently large rock near a flowerbed. This will create a very natural, visually appealing feel.

When it comes to choosing the right lawn figurines, go with simplicity and creativity. Choose simple pieces that reflect who you are. You can look at the lawn figurines in your friends’ gardens to get more ideas. Keep it visually appealing and avoid clutter.
